'In the shadows of the world, a discrete giant wanders. Softly, mechanically, a thin silhouette stretches out... several droplets of light are sprinkled along its progression, here and there. This whispering giant is the Motorway. Against a backdrop, in the colour of night, it provokes questions. Here, people wander, delicately perfumed with solitude, still attached to reality by the rubber of their tyres. These travellers are faced with themselves. Here, there is only one direction, or two contradicting directions: with or against oneself. The exterior world is just there, behind the barriers, yet somehow so far. Here, time could stop, here, one can say 'hello me' while peering into the rear-vision mirror. We are the journey. We drive. We feel good, we follow... We turn in circles, we understand finally: no, not this way... We lose ourselves, scare ourselves, dance with our thoughts and end up in a trance. I passed other ants, upside-down, sometimes even right-side-up, who were also gently wandering. Amnesia, velvet and therapy. There are those who lie down on a divan once a week, others who go walking in Laponia for six months and then, there are those that take the Motorway. Thousands of kilometres, an infinite blue ribbon which leads us to the encounter with our own thoughts, be they fluid or solid, puritannical or erotic, wild, televisual, serious, crazy or for some, quite simply absent. OVER 10 COUNTRIES, 16 000 KILOMETRES, 60 FULL DAYS AND DARK NIGHTS, I ate, slept and thought Motorway.'
